A necessary Indigenous project

“This Is Who I Am”  is an experimental and inspirational Indigenous youth film about overcoming the complexities of being Indigenous in a big city.  As more and more Indigenous youth around the world move from their communities to urban centers, their cultures and languages may become at risk. Our film invites these youth to have strength in their identity and to still take up their languages and cultures no matter where they live.

“This Is Who I Am” has been screened at several film festivals in the US and Canada and it has been viewed by several Indigenous and non-Indigenous audiences from around the world.  Additionally, the film has been presented by its creators at institutions such as Yale University, Columbia University, and the United Nations. The greatest honor for us has been to screen it for young Indigenous peoples who have expressed their desire to start learning their traditional languages and cultures, or to continue doing so.
